The Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) of the Northern Territory Department of Health and Menzies School of Health Research (HREC-EC00153)
The Human Research Ethics Committee supports the research activities of the Northern Territory Department of Health and Menzies School of Health Research; and considers ethics applications submitted by non-government health providers located across the Northern Territory. The Aboriginal Ethics Sub Committee provides advice to the Human Research ethics Committee on all applications involving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Northern Territory (except Tiwi studies).
Under the Harmonisation of Multi-centre Ethical Review (HoMER) scheme, the Human Research Ethics Committee also consider applications for the review of human research that will be conducted in other States or Territories in Australia other than the Northern Territory.
The Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) of the Northern Territory Department of Health and Menzies School of Health Research is constituted in accordance with the NHMRC Act 1992 (Cth) and the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007).
