Ask the Specialist: Larrakia, Tiwi and Yolŋu stories to inspire better healthcare
“The Specialists” are Larrakia Elder Bilawara Lee, Tiwi Elder Pirrawayingi Puruntatameri and Yolŋu leader Rarrtjiwuy Melanie Herdman. Kriol and Burrara interpreter Bernadette Nethercott from the NT Aboriginal Interpreter Service also shares expertise. The podcast is hosted by intercultural communication researcher Dr Vicki Kerrigan and Yolŋu nurse and researcher Stuart Yiwarr McGrath.
Across seven episodes, questions range from the practical, “Is it okay to make eye contact?”, to cultural safety issues, “I want to know what Aboriginal people feel like when we talk to them, what makes them think that we're racist?”.

Ask the Specialist: Arrernte, Warlpiri and Yolŋu stories to inspire better healthcare
“The Specialists” are Yolŋu leader Rarrtjiwuy Melanie Herdman, Warlpiri Elder Jimmy Langdon Japanangka, Arrernte Elder and Ngangkere Amelia Turner Kngwarraye and Arrernte Elder Sabella Turner Kngwarraye. These episodes focus on perspectives on death, dying and palliative care and are hosted by Kelly Clark from Danila Dilba Health Service and Christine Sanderson, from NT Health.
Across three episodes, questions regarding cultural practices are asked, such as “What is the significance of a smoking ceremony”, as well as questions regarding clinical care, “Why do some patients seem fearful of pain medication, like morphine?”.
