Deloitte Report Launch
The Deloitte Access Economics report on the Social and Economic Contribution of the Menzies School of Health Research in 2015 was launched on Tuesday 26 July 2016 at the Deloitte offices in Sydney, at a luncheon hosted by Keith Jones, the Chairman of Deloitte Australia.
Lynne Pezzullo, Lead Partner Health Economics and Social Policy, Deloitte Access Economics, commented on the methodology and findings of the report, and her presentation was followed by a robust discussion about the ‘on the ground’ impact of our work here at Menzies.
A snapshot of the report shows that Menzies is one of Australia’s most cost-effective health research institutes, with every dollar invested returning $2.70 to the economy.
Our activities generate significant economic benefit to the Northern Territory, Australia and the Asia-Pacific, delivering a net benefit of $700 million across the region, and we hold a 5 out of 5 Australian Government ranking for excellence in clinical research, indicating we perform well above world standard.
Over the past 30 years Menzies has consolidated its position as the leading health research institution in northern Australia. We focus on improving Indigenous health and wellbeing to close the gap in health outcomes for Indigenous Australians, and we partner with communities and health services across the Asia-Pacific region to address priority health issues.
As outlined in the report, we are poised to make a core contribution to the development of Northern Australia and to strengthen educational, health and economic partnerships with Australia’s neighbours across the region.
