Menzies School of Health Research.

The Menzies School of Health Research (Menzies) is one of Australia’s leading health research institutes and the only one with a primary focus on Indigenous health. Based in Darwin, we are academically affiliated with Charles Darwin University and employ over 250 staff across Australia and internationally. We have an outstanding track record of over 35 years in undertaking projects, working hand in hand with Indigenous people in rural and remote communities across Australia as well as with people living in developing communities throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Menzies has been working with over 60 Indigenous communities focusing on Indigenous health research, policy reform, and informing and supporting health practitioners and health care centres about emerging treatment regimes and Indigenous capacity building.

Our work covers health from pre-conception to the grave and across acute, chronic, and preventative health. Some of our major programs of work include Child health and development, Diabetes, kidney disease, mental health, suicide prevention, ear and lung health, cancer, sexual health, tobacco and other addictive substance use, nutrition, youth health, skin health, and primary health care and health systems research.

• Our purpose is to achieve sustainable health improvements through excellence and leadership in research, education, and capacity development.

• Our vision is to find enduring solutions to problems that matter, the kind that when tackled, have the potential to make an immense difference to the quality of lives both here and abroad.
